Educational trading platform
Sure Trading is an educational company founded by Bev and Ross Larter. Ross is also the author of the popular book entitled "How to make money on the stock exchange".
Sure Trading provides education around trading and has grown since its establishment growing a solid client base. The problem was that onboarding each new client required loads of one on one time to get up and running and trained. This realisation meant that the company could only grow based on the time available, limiting the number of clients they could acquire.
A DUAL PURPOSE WEBSITE USED FOR MARKETING AND AS A CLIENT PORTAL
The solution would be in the form of an e-commerce subscription based website, which allows users to pay and subscribe. Once subscribed, users had easy access to training courses, educational videos, an online community, a resource library and live meetings.
The website not only served as a platform to allow paying users to access and consume loads of educational content but also serves a massive purpose as a marketing tool. There are many get-rich-quick scams and websites online, we wanted Sure Trading's website to showcase their track record, legitimacy and credibility. We had to build a level of trust and provide potential new clients with all the information and clarity they need to convince them that this is a genuine business and a great choice to increase their trading knowledge.
People get hesitant when subscribing to services and websites, thinking that once they've signed up that they can't get out of the subscription, this is not the case with Sure Trading.
Using technology to scale the business
We really enjoyed the entire journey of this project. We knew from the concept that we could deliver exactly what the client wanted, which we did, keeping the client involved every step of the way from the initial UI (User Interface) designs, to the custom development of the client portal and finally to the launch.
Sure Trading has embraced and invested in this new business model, making their business much more automated and needing less human involvement. They can scale and grow their subscriber base without needing to invest more time, freeing them up to work on other aspects of the business.
The subscribers have the added benefit of accessing the platform and content whenever they want and are not limited to business hours and Sure Trading's available as it was previously.
There is no doubt that more features will be added over time to the client portal to allow Sure Trading to further enhance the experience of their users and provide them with increased value.
INTERESTING FACTS
The website is packed with educational videos that users can watch. We needed to limit access to these videos only to paying users and also track each user's progress for reporting purposes, for this we opted to use Vimeo as the video platform.
Guiding new users on which videos to watch and resources to consume in a logical and user-friendly order was paramount from the get go.
Challenges
The eCommerce subscription mechanism was key to the website's success, so we needed to find and implement the best solution to make the sign up and payment process super slick and dead simple. After much research we opted to use the Peach Payments gateway. Subscription payments are done in two methods, the first is an instant payment for the initial subscription and the second is the monthly automation subscription payment.
Integration was challenging as we needed to make provision for various scenarios with a big one being validating 3D secure cards. We developed the website to be intelligent and feature rich, to cater for other eventualities such as failed credit card payments, load new cards and cancelling subscriptions.
